Cinco Done Right. Superfood Cocktail Recipes!

Cinco de Mayo is this weekend and we all know what that means – it’s margarita time! As tempting as they are, these sugary cocktails wreak havoc on our diets and health. In fact, margaritas are the most caloric beverage you can drink. That classic margarita on the rocks contains 1113 calories, no fat, 50 grams of carbohydrates, no protein and almost two times the RDA for sodium and 31 grams of sugar.* Almost a day’s worth of calories, sodium and sugar in just one drink! So, if you are going to indulge in a well-deserved cocktail, why not slip in some wellness? Below are a few suggestions, one of which turns our favorite infused water into an indulge-worthy beverage. The recipes provided make enough to share with your friends!

Pear Infused Vodka

Pears provide a whopping amount of nutritional value and health benefits.  Some of the health benefits of pears include their ability to aid in weight lossimprove digestion, improve heart health, regulate the body’s fluid levels, reduce blood pressure, increase cognitive ability, prevent cancer, promote wound healing and tissue repair, defend against birth defects, boost the immune system, reduce inflammation, increase the metabolism, improve circulation, protect against osteoporosis, while guaranteeing healthier skin, eyes, and hair. That makes enjoying this pear infused cocktail super sweet!

Ingredients (makes 8 servings):

1-3/4 cups Absolut Pear Vodka

1 pear thinly sliced

16 oz of Soupure Reboot Pear Yuzu Alkalized Water

1-1/2 cups of ice

Instructions:

Place ice cubes in empty pitcher. Add Pear Vodka (1/3rd of bottle or to taste) and fill with Reboot water. Add sliced pears.   Stir. Pour into highball glasses and enjoy.

Citrus Infused Vodka

If you don’t have our Soupure water, try this citrus blend.

Ingredients (makes 8 servings):

1-3/4 cups Absolut Mandarin Vodka

1 orange

1 lime

Crushed mint

2 cups water

1-1/2 cups of ice

Instructions:

To release the essential oils, either crush the fresh mint with the back of a spoon in a small glass or chop finely. Place the crushed mint along with some ice cubes in an empty pitcher. Squeeze juice of orange and lime over the ice. Throw in the leftover peel for presentation. Add Mandarin Vodka (1/3rd of bottle or to taste). Stir. Pour into highball glasses and enjoy.

Cinco de Mayo option:  Add thinly sliced or grated fresh jalapeno peppers for a surprising twist!
