Fall In Love With Restore
As we move into fall, nothing says healthy and delicious “comfort food” like our Restore – our gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian Japanese sweet potato, parsnip and lemongrass soup.
It is true that when we think of “comfort foods” we think of foods with higher carbohydrates. This is because higher levels of carbohydrates actually increases the serotonin levels, a neurotransmitter, in our body making us feel happy and relaxed! But, instead of reaching for the French fries, brownies or cookies, reward yourself while actually improving your health – with our Restore – made from Japanese Sweet Potato – Mother Nature’s comfort food.
Before you shudder at the thought of potatoes and possible weight gain, consider some sweet potato facts. They may change your mind about the role of this root vegetable in your diet. This delicately sweet potato has numerous health benefits and can actually help you lose weight. Sweet potatoes have a slightly lower carbohydrate count than do regular potatoes and almost twice as much fiber. They are also an excellent source of vitamin A, and a good source vitamin C and B6, and they contain more of potassium than a banana! For all these reasons, Japanese sweet potatoes have been known to help improve our immune systems, protect against free radicals, and lower the risk of developing cancer and heart disease. Also, because of their high water and fiber content, they actually can help you lose weight by providing volume and making you feel full.
Parsnips and lemongrass also add their own health benefits, including helping to reduce cholesterol levels, improve digestion and protect cardiovascular health. These ingredients and others blend beautifully into a soup of delicate sweetness and hearty texture that just feels plain ole’ good
Order at least one Restore in your Pick Your Soup 8-Pack through November 6th and receive and a jar of organic Fall Spice Blend. This spice blend is great sprinkled on top of our Restore. It contains cinnamon and nutmeg and ginger (both of which have been used as a stomach soother for centuries, and may help reduce inflammation and boost the immune system). More info here.
Or, if you are looking to try your own toppings on Restore, give crushed vegetable chips a try for a little extra crunch. Fresh edamame are also a great way to add some vegetable proteins. Unlike other vegetarian protein sources, edamame are considered a complete protein because they contain all nine essential amino acids that the body requires but cannot make itself.
Happy fall souping everyone!
